Late Run Lifts Raiders Past Black Knights

Colgate Defeats Army West Point in Inaugural Meeting Wednesday Thanks to Second-Half Surge

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Colgate closed the game on a 14-1 run to erase a four-goal deficit and post a 16-7 victory over Army West Point in Patriot League women's lacrosse action Wednesday at Michie Stadium.
 
Trailing 6-2 less than three minutes into the second half, the Raiders notched three goals in a 1:14 span to spark a 5-0 stretch that gave Colgate its first lead of the contest, 7-6, with 20:44 remaining.
 
Army West Point temporarily halted the Raiders' surge, tying the game at 7-7 a little more than four minutes later, but Kallan Muray restored Colgate's lead with 13:50 on the clock, igniting a 9-0 spurt that allowed the Raiders to pull away from the Black Knights and record the nine-goal victory.
 
Earlier in the contest the Black Knights scored three goals in a 5:23 span to spark a 4-0 stretch that broke a 1-1 deadlock and gave Army West Point a 5-1 lead at halftime.
 
The teams traded goals in the opening 2:34 of the second half to set up Colgate's game-changing run.
