SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Colgate Softball recorded a 3-2 victory in Game 2 to earn a doubleheader split with Syracuse here Wednesday afternoon.
The Orange took the opener 10-3 but the Raiders rebounded with a strong outing in the nightcap.
Junior
Katie Bushee finished 5-for-7 with three RBI and a run to lead the Colgate offense.
Gillian Murray chipped in three hits, one RBI and a run during her six at bats, while five other Raider student-athletes notched one hit each.
Lauren La Terra, the reigning Corvias Patriot League Rookie of the Week, also reeled in a Raider run for her 10th RBI of the season.
Meghan Romero and
Brigit Ieuter accounted for two of Colgate's runs, while
Tara Grennan crossed home plate twice.
Ieuter worked seven complete innings in the circle during Game 2, allowing five hits and two earned runs. She struck out two batters in her fourth win of the year.
Kyle Griswold was credited with the loss in the opener after giving up six hits and six runs in 4.1 innings.
Megan Carnase came in for relief, allowing four hits and four runs during her 1.2 innings of work.
Colgate is back in action Saturday when Bucknell comes to town for a three-game series. The two will meet Saturday for a doubleheader before playing the series finale Sunday. Start times for both days are noon on Eaton Street Field. Live stats and video available at the beginning of each game.
