HAMILTON – Colgate Softball split a midweek out-of-conference doubleheader with Binghamton here Tuesday afternoon.
The Raiders took the nightcap 7-6 after the game was called at the end of the fifth due to darkness. Binghamton recorded a five-inning 8-0 victory in the opener.
Rookies
Lauren La Terra and
Meghan Romero were Colgate's top performers on the day. La Terra finished 3-for-4 with four RBI and a run, while Romero went 3-for-5.
Brigit Ieuter added two hits to go along with one hit each from
Katie Bushee,
Gillian Murray and
Baillie Jorth. Bushee accounted for two Raider runs and reeled in two RBI. Ieuter also earned an RBI on the day.
Pami White and
Alessandra Moore notched one run, while Jorth finished with two.
Megan Carnase earned the win in game two, pitching five innings allowing eight hits and six runs, two of which were earned.
In the opener,
Kyle Griswold went 3.1 innings, giving up seven hits and seven runs (six earned). Carnase then came in to finish off the final 1.2 innings. The senior allowed just three hits and one unearned run during her time in the circle.
Colgate heads to Holy Cross this weekend for a three-game Patriot League series. The weekend starts Saturday with a twin bill beginning at noon, followed by a single game Sunday also with a 12 p.m. start. All contest are played at Freshman Field.
