Raiders Drop Two at Pacific; Nightcap Heartbreaker Following Walk-Off Win

STOCKTON, Calif. – Colgate Softball dropped a doubleheader at Pacific here Wednesday night, 4-1 and 1-0.

Kyle Griswold pitched an impressive game two allowing just four hits and one unearned run during 6.2 innings of work. The sophomore fanned two batters, while issuing only one walk.

It was a scoreless ballgame until the seventh when the Tigers converted on an error to complete the walk-off win. Griswold had recorded two outs in the inning but Pacific found itself with runners on first and second heading into the potential last at bat of regulation. On the ensuing play, Griswold forced Melanie Habib to pop up but the ball fell in and out of a Raiders glove, allowing the game-winning run to touch home plate.

In the opener, the Raiders saw Pacific jump in front 1-0 early in the first.

Colgate eventually knotted the score at 1-all following a wild pitch. Lauren La Terra drilled a one-out single to center field to start the Raider rally. Meghan Romaro followed that up with a walk to place two runners on base. On the following play, the Raiders grounded out, shifting both runners into scoring position. Then during the next at bat, Pacific's pitcher threw a wild pitch, which allowed for La Terra to cross home.

In the circle for the Raiders in game one was Brigit Ieuter. The senior pitched six innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on seven hits. The Wilmette, Illinois, native registered two strikeouts on the day as well.

Katie Bushee led the Raiders with two hits in the doubleheader. Six other Colgate student-athletes recorded a hit each in Marisa Dowling, Alex Gadiano, Tara Grennan, Gillian Murray, Pami White, and La Terra.

Colgate has a quick turnaround as it travels to San Jose State for a doubleheader on Thursday at noon Pacific time. Live stats will be available at the start of all games.
