ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Colgate Men's Basketball went on the road to second-place Navy and handed the Mids a 58-55 defeat after a strong overall performance here Saturday afternoon.
With it a 51-50 Raiders edge, sophomore
Jordan Robertson drained a big 3-pointer to give Colgate the four-point lead with 1:40 left to play. Jace Hogan cut the advantage in half but Robertson converted on 1-of-2 free throws during the next possession to make it a 55-52 ballgame with 36 ticks remaining on the clock.
Twenty seconds later, Tilman Dunbar was fouled and hit 1-of-2 from the charity stripe before the Mids quickly sent
Sean O'Brien to the line hoping for some missed free throws. O'Brien dropped in one of his attempts to push the lead to 56-53 with 13 seconds left.
Again Dunbar took the ball in his hands and pulled the Mids to within one following a layup.
The Mids then fouled O'Brien on the inbounds play and the sophomore calmly went to the line and sank the two free throws to secure the tough road victory.

Jordan Swopshire, who posted a career-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting.

Straight From The Source•
Colgate head coach Matt Langel: (on his thoughts from the game) "When you're on the road it's a little more difficult to win. They were in second place for a reason. They're a really tough-minded team, who is very disciplined and well coached. They changed the rhythm of the game by changing defenses and not letting you get the ball up the court easily. We were prepared for it.
"I thought our guys showed a certain level of toughness that maybe we didn't have a little bit earlier in the year. We are without our starting center
Malcolm Regisford but we battled back and got enough rebounds. I think we made a few more mistakes in the second half than we did in the first half defensively like letting Jace Hogan get going a little bit and let Will Kelly go to his strong moves but there is a reason why they're able to do that and it's because they've good players. We didn't step up and make free throws like we can and need to over the course of the rest of the season but we made enough to stem the tide and got a couple critical rebounds and made enough shots to get outa here with a win."
