HAMILTON
– Junior Isabel Kreitler scored four goals, including the game-winning marker in overtime, to lead Colgate to an 11-10 victory over Niagara in collegiate women's lacrosse action Tuesday at Beyer-Small '76 Field.

Kreitler's decisive tally came 4:02 into the first extra session of a back-and-forth affair that saw the two sides battle through nine ties and four lead changes before determining a winner.

On the game-winning goal, Kreitler was awarded a free-position attempt that was initially stopped by Niagara keeper Andrea Francisco. The rebound was then collected by Kreitler and fired past Francisco to give the Raiders the victory in their home opener.

Colgate trailed 9-8 late in the second half when back-to-back strikes from Kreitler and Emily Peebles 3:27 apart gave the Raiders a 10-9 lead with 2:43 left in the second half.

Niagara was able to force overtime, as Samantha Brill scored her second goal of the game to tie the game at 10-10.

Colgate had an opportunity to take the lead in the final seconds of regulation, but a free-position attempt by the Raiders was turned aside by Francisco, sending the game to overtime and setting up Kreitler's heroics.

Kreitler and Peebles combined to record eight of the Raiders' 11 tallies in the contest as Peebles matched her career high with four goals. Kallan Murray chipped in a goal and three assists while Lauren Gorajek and Haley O'Hanlon also scored for Colgate.

"I'm really proud of the girls. We definitely changed some things from Vermont. The 50-50 balls today were huge for us. We really wanted to be going out and challenging them, especially off the draw in the second half that was a huge thing for us. I'm happy with the fight that they showed today."

"Unfortunately, the free-position shot did not go in. But thankfully, the ball just dribbled out right back towards me and I picked it up and tried to slam dunk it in."
