Kreitler Leads Raiders In Season Opener

Junior Posts Career-Highs of Five Goals and Seven Points in Setback to Catamounts Saturday

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont rattled off six unanswered goals during a 7:18 span midway through the second half to erase a one-goal deficit and defeat Colgate, 14-12, in collegiate women's lacrosse action Saturday at Virtue Field.
 
Holding an 8-6 lead at the start of the second half, the Catamounts found themselves down one less than four minutes into the final frame after the Raiders stormed out of the gate with three consecutive goals to pull back in front.
 
Courtney Cole started the game-changing sequence, tying the game at 9-all with her second goal of the contest with 18:52 remaining. Meredith Moore and Marjorie Dehm followed with goals shortly Cole's tally to give Vermont the lead before Elena McWright and Alex Bernier combined for three goals in a 2:26 span to give the Catamounts a 14-9 cushion with 11:34 to play. 
 
Isabel Kreitler brought the Vermont run to a close with back-to-back tallies and Haley O'Hanlon trimmed the Colgate deficit to two with 2:57 remaining, but the Catamounts kept the Raiders from getting any closer to earn their first victory of the season.
