Raiders Tripped in OT at Lowell

Stone Scores 19, Carroll 16; Pozsonyi Adds Career-High 13

LOWELL, Mass. – Colgate allowed a late lead to slip away and UMass Lowell rallied for an 82-77 overtime victory here Sunday afternoon.
 
The Raiders went in front 66-59 on Mackenzie Carroll's 3-pointer with 4:01 remaining. It was Colgate's largest lead of the game after the Raiders had trailed for most of the first three quarters.
 
But Colgate went scoreless on its last seven possessions and UMass Lowell knocked down a pair of killer 3-pointers in the final 90 seconds. Megan Hendrick and Nicole Hayner connected from long range to force overtime at 66-66.
 
Kateri Stone hit a 3-pointer a minute into the extra session to push Colgate in front 69-67, but UML responded with another pair of consecutive threes from Hayner and Hendrick to take the lead for keeps at 73-69 with 2:25 remaining.
 
After the lead swelled to 76-69, Colgate pulled no closer than three points the rest of the way.
 
Stone led four Raiders in double figures with 19 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers in 13 attempts. Carroll scored 16 thanks to four 3-pointers, while Tori Pozsonyi added 13 points and Katie Curtis pitched in 12.
 
Pozsonyi's point total was a career high, and she missed a double-double by one rebound.
 
26979Hayner played 44 minutes and led all scorers with 23 points, or 15 above her average coming in. Hendrick and Kayla Gibbs scored 19 points apiece, with Gibbs adding 13 rebounds.

• It was still 66-59 when UML began its comeback on a Gibbs free throw with exactly two minutes remaining.
• Hendrick connected on her 3-pointer with 1:31 left, and then Hayner tied it with 18 seconds to play by swishing from long range.
• In overtime, Hayner hit another trey and Hendrick followed suit to make it 73-69 River Hawks with 2:20 showing.
• Stone and Carroll answered with late threes for the Raiders, but Colgate never could draw closer than three points.

• There were 14 ties and 12 lead changes.
Mylah Chandler contributed six points, 11 rebounds and a career-high eight assists. The rebound total matched her career high for the fourth time this season.
• The Raiders made a season-high 13 threes and shot above 40 percent from downtown for the fourth straight game.
• Colgate's Curtis and Rachel Thompson both fouled out in overtime.
• Pozsonyi posted 13 points and nine rebounds in 37 minutes – all career highs.
• Carroll is 13-of-24 from the field over the last three games, including 10-of-17 from 3-point distance.
• She also grabbed eight rebounds in 31 minutes Sunday for a pair of career highs.
