WASHINGTON, D.C. – Hennie Cabuhay (Morris Plains, New Jersey) scored the first goal of her career Saturday afternoon with the Colgate field hockey team's lone shot on goal as the Raiders fell to the nationally ranked No. 19 American Eagles at William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex.
Cabuhay's goal also came on the first shot of her career, as she became the fifth different Raider to score a goal this season. Cabuhay is the first player since former Raider
Stina Ladd scored her first career goal on her first career shot in 2015 season opener at Fairfield.
Remi Filippini (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) picked up her first career assist on Cabuhay's first career goal. Filippini is the first member of the freshman class this year to record a point.
Maria Krull (Leicester, Massachusetts) tallied 14 saves in loss for the Raiders for her ninth double-digit save game of the season. Krull's 14 saves are tied for the fourth most she has recorded in a game this season.
On the season, Krull has now made a career-high 183 saves and is just 17 saves from becoming the seventh player in program history with 200 saves in a single season.
Cabuhay netted her first career goal after Krull made a save on the defensive side of the field. The Raiders quickly carried the ball up the field in transition where Filippini hit Cabuhay with a beautiful pass from the right wing and Cabuhay banged home the ball at the right post.
Natalie Konerth led American offensively with her second hat trick of the season and of her career, and her first goals since scoring two against Lehigh on Sept. 24. Rafaela Rubas tallied three points with a goal and an assist and Leah DiGiandomenico tallied a pair of assists as the other multiple-point scorers. Kat Roncoroni and Emily Hogan each added goals for American.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Cathy Foto
"If we could have started the game the way we ended, we would have produced more scoring opportunities. It was great to get a goal and when we did our entire mentality changed.
"The goal started with a great pass from
Sarah DeMarco to
Remi Filippini. Remi drove the side line and crossed the ball across the circle and
Hennie Cabuhay was right there to put it in."
