Harris’ Career Night Leads Raiders to Sweep

Junior Kathleen Harris’ Career-High 22 Kills Leads Colgate to 3-0 Sweep of Bucknell in Patriot League Opener

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Kathleen Harris recorded a career-high 22 kills to lead Colgate to a 3-0 sweep of host Bucknell in Patriot League volleyball action Friday at Davis Gym.
 
Harris committed just one attack error in 42 swings as she posted a .500 hitting percentage to guide a Raiders lineup that combined for a season-high .309 attack clip (43K-17E-110TA). Harris also pitched in 11 digs, recording her team-best fifth double-double of the season.
 
The League match is part of the Bucknell Invitational. The four-team tournament also features Delaware State and Providence, The Raiders will square off against both programs in tournament action on Saturday.

How It Happened
- Colgate claimed the opening frame, 25-23, grabbing an early lead and keeping Bucknell from drawing even the rest of the way to record the two-point victory and take a 1-0 lead.
- The Raiders cruised to a 25-15 victory in the second set. Colgate used a 7-1 spurt early in the stanza to break open a one-point contest and never look back as they took a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Colgate once again took advantage of an early run during the third set, posting six of seven points to build a 13-6 cushion.
- The Bison would battle back, using a 6-2 run in the later stages of the set to pull within one, 23-22. Newcomers Jaelah Hutchison and Katie Stansbury would dash the Bucknell comeback attempt, tallying back-to-back kills to give the Raiders a 25-23 decision and the match.
 
Key Raider Info
- Harris was the only Raider to reach double digits in kills as junior Katie Stebbins pitched in eight spikes and Stansbury added seven.
- Harris' career effort was her team-leading sixth double-figure kill effort of the campaign.
- Harris' 22 kills were just three spikes shy of matching the program mark for kills in a three-set match. Julia Civardi, who recorded 25 spikes in a three-set contest against Lehigh on Oct. 28, 1994, holds the record.
- Senior Jackie Macy dished out a season-high 40 assists and added 10 digs for her first double-double of the season.
- Junior Madison McAndrews joined Harris and Macy in double digits for digs, notching a team-best 13 bumps.
- Hutchison paced the Raiders with five total blocks (one solo, four block assists).

- Colgate posted a hitting percentage of .290 or higher in all three frames, highlighted by a .327 attack clip (17-3-43) in the opening set.
- Bucknell combined for a team hitting percentage of .188 for the match. The Bison hit above .200 in the first (.224) and third (.344) frames, but were held to a .000 attack clip (8-8-36) in the second stanza.
- Karen Campbell recorded 14 kills and Blake Bucholz added 11 spikes for Bucknell. Meghan Wentzel dished out 37 assists for the Bison.
