Doll Nets Raider Goal in Season Opener

Colgate Drops Opener at Connecticut 4-1; Cummings Makes Career-High 11 Saves

STORRS, Conn. – Colgate women's soccer opened the 2015 season at Connecticut on Friday but ultimately dropped a 4-1 decision to the Huskies.

Sophomore Eliza Doll tallied the Raiders' lone goal in the game thanks to a good feed from senior Sidney Parodie.

UConn, a team that reached the second round of the NCAA Women's College Cup just a year ago, jumped out to the 1-0 lead 28 minutes in.

Colgate then found itself in a little hole just after halftime when Rachel Hill netted her second of the game, making it 2-0 in favor of the hosts.

Doll cut the lead in half, though, with her first goal of the season in the 55th minute. Parodie found Doll in the center of the field, where the Bethesda, Maryland, native portrayed some impressive moves to find an opening and rip a shot on net. Her attempted from just outside the box sailed past UConn goalie Emily Armstrong, pulling the Raiders to within 2-1.

Unfortunately, the Huskies were able to record two additional goals in the remaining time to secure the victory.

Senior Erin Cummings registered a career-high 11 saves in net for the Raiders and made her seventh career start.
