HAMILTON – Colgate women's ice hockey has recently named its team captains for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
Leading the Raiders this year will be senior
Katelyn Parker, junior
Cat Quirion and sophomore
Annika Zalewski.
"We are very pleased to announce Annika, Catherine and Katelyn as captains for this upcoming season," Colgate head coach
Greg Fargo said. "This leadership group will help set the tone for our season and lead by example. They will be great representatives for our hockey program and Colgate University."
Parker is no stranger to the captain's title as she returns to her duties after having served as the team captain for the 2014-15 campaign. The difference will be the two joining her this coming season in defensemen Quirion and forward Zalewski.
Parker and Quirion have seen action in 103 and 66 games for the Raiders, respectively. Parker has notched eight career points, while Quirion has earned seven. Both are able to step in front of the puck as well, with Quirion blocking 33 shots a season ago and Parker 17.
Despite missing part of her first season due to injury, Zalewski quickly established herself as a leader for the Raiders. In her 19 games played during her rookie campaign she tallied three goals and seven assists for 10 points.
These three will have a good core of players to work with this season as Colgate returns 14 student-athletes from a year ago. The Raiders are also on track to add another strong incoming class to make for an even more impressive final squad.
