Colgate head coach Mike Murphy: (On the game) "It was a story of two halves. We came out a little tentative in first half. Our offense got a couple of good looks early against a really good goalie. But we had some problems clearing the ball, especially early in that first half.
"We were giving them extra possessions through ground balls and clears. We cleaned that up as we moved into the second half.
"We did a good job limiting what they could do off the faceoffs even though the field was heavily slanted in their direction. In the second half, we did an even better job.
"We were really dominant in the second half in terms of time of possession, and we started to attack the goal a little bit stronger."
(On newcomer contributions) "Our midfield was excellent today, and Donato and Stebbins were a big part of that. I know it's one game, but we've been seeing them making a difference in practice, and it came to fruition today.
"We also got some great play out of
Anthony Abbadessa in the attack position, going 1-1."
(On Walsh and Clarkson) "They were paying a lot of attention to Ryan, and he did a good job distributing the ball. He and
Matt Clarkson are two veteran leaders out there and they did a good job of calming everybody down."
(On Burke in goal) "Brandon was very good in the goal and came up with a cuple of show-stopper saves. That sparked us a little bit down the stretch. They started to shoot the ball pretty heavily in that fourth quarter and he was up to the challenge with three huge saves in that quarter."
