Wildfang Tallies Career Goal #3 at Princeton

Raiders Drop 4-1 Decision to Tigers; Rando Makes 24 Total Saves

PRINCETON, N.J. – Rookie Lauren Wildfang found the back of the net on Friday night but it wasn't enough to spark a Colgate women's hockey victory.

The Raiders ultimately dropped the contest 4-1 to host Princeton.

The Tigers earned the game's first goal midway through the first period.

They then made it 2-0 nearly five minutes into the second frame when Morgan Sly recorded a goal but Wildfang's tally a little under two minutes later cut into Princeton's lead.

Melissa Kueber and Hannah Rastrick started the play by working the puck around Colgate's offensive zone. Kueber shifted the puck to Rastrick, who collected it and found Wildfang to make it a 2-1 game.

Five minutes into the third period, however, Colgate was called for hooking, which awarded the Tigers a man-up advantage. Princeton was able to convert on the power play to increase its edge to 3-1.

Despite some solid chances from the Raiders in the final minutes, an empty net goal late in the game ultimately secured the Tigers the victory.

The Raiders are back on the ice Saturday at No. 5 Quinnipiac. That game is slated for a 4 p.m. start

Straight From The Source
Head coach Greg Fargo (on his overall thoughts from the game): "It was a hard-fought game from both teams tonight. Princeton did a good job of shutting down quality chances. We had to really work for everything we got. (Kimberly) Newell made a few saves for Princeton that could have changed the game our way."

"We've got to look forward. Quinnipiac is ahead and a team that is tough to play against, especially in their own building. We've got to have a short memory and rebound quickly on Saturday."
