HAMILTON –
Katie Curtis scored a career-high 14 points but it wasn't enough as Colgate fell 62-38 to red-hot St. Bonaventure here Saturday.

The Bonnies (9-2) won their eighth straight game this season and their seventh in a row over the Raiders, who wrapped up what surely goes down as their toughest three-game home stand in program history.

Colgate lost to No. 1-ranked Connecticut, Gonzaga and St. Bonaventure – three teams with a combined won-lost record of 25-6 this season.

But the Raiders hope to build off those experiences, and they have the perfect opportunity for a fresh start Tuesday when Patriot League play begins at Lafayette.

Saturday, Curtis accumulated her 14 points on 6-of-15 shooting. Her previous career high of 12 came Dec. 7 at Binghamton.

Each team placed just one player in double-figures. For St. Bonaventure, it was Nyla Rueter with 21 to match her season high.

Colgate and Lafayette tip off Tuesday at 5 p.m., with the livestream available via the Patriot League Network.

• The Bonnies were impressive in the third quarter. St. Bonaventure opened the period 22-3 over the first 6½ minutes to make it 43-15 with 3:27 showing.

From the Source
• Colgate head coach Nicci Hays Fort (On the game): "We played really great defense in the first half. We stuck to the game plan really well and gave up only 21 points against a really good offensive team.

"We were pressing a little bit on offense and it led to a lot of turnovers, so we didn't have a lot of good shots in the first quarter. We pulled it back together and won the second quarter, but then we just had a really bad stretch in the third quarter.

"We had mental lapses on defense and on offense, and that was the difference in the game.

(On individual play) "Katie did a good job looking for her shot and looking to attack on shots within the offense. Josie did a good job of staying composed, but it was hard to get her the ball today."
