Colgate Completes Season Sweep of Navy

Raiders Combine for .256 Hitting Percentage in Three-Match Victory over Mids

HAMILTON - Junior Kathleen Harris recorded 11 kills to lead Colgate to a 3-0 victory over Navy in Patriot League volleyball action Saturday at Cotterell Court. 

Paced by Harris, the Raiders combined for a .256 hitting percentage in the match, recording 33 kills and 10 just errors in 90 total swings. Sophomore Molly Smith dished out 14 assists and senior Jackie Macy dished out 12 assists. Junior Madison McAndrews finished with nine digs.

- After winning the first set, 25-18, the Raiders found themselves down 8-4 to the Mids early in the second set.
- Senior Kate Reilly started the Colgate comeback, recording a kill to ignite the Raiders to five straight points to take a 9-8 lead.
- Navy recorded back-to-back two points to regain the lead, 10-9, but Colgate took control of the contest from there, scoring three straight points to regain the lead, 12-10, before using a 7-0 spurt later in the frame to cruise to a 25-16 victory and a 2-0 lead.
- The Raiders carried their momentum into the third set, posting its second 25-18 victory to complete the sweep.
 
Key Raider Info
- Harris was the only Raider to reach double figures in kills for the contest.  
- Newcomer Jaelah Hutchison tallied seven spikes while three players – junior Katie Stebbins and newcomers Amanda Smith and Katie Stansbury – added four spikes each.
- Hutchison led the Raiders with four block assists while Smith chipped in three.
- Colgate hit better than .200 for the 12th time this season and improved to 10-2 when doing so.
