LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – Colgate men's soccer closed out its three-game road swing Sunday at Loyola Marymount, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Lions.
LMU tallied what would be the eventual game-winner at the 28:57 mark handing Colgate the loss.
The Raiders had a few great looks on net, however, as junior
Nick Rizzo tried to find the back of the goal with three different attempts. But the Lions' keeper Vince Paldino came up with some goal-saving stops.
Colgate is back on Beyer-Small '76 Field Friday during the CU Inaria Classic when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson at 7 p.m.

The Difference• After an even opening 25 minutes the Lions broke through Colgate's defense following a scrum in front of the net.
- Following an LMU corner kick, the Raiders blocked an initial shot from Mark Dotseth, but were unable to clear it away as Conner Hunsicker collected the rebound and shot to the corner, out of the reach of Brown.
Good Raider Chances• Colgate earned two great chances on net in the opening 45 minutes of action and two solid opportunities in the closing half.
- In the 33rd minute, Stroud tried to equalize for the Raiders when he took the ball out of the air, one-touched it toward net and struck a hard-driven shot on goal. Unfortunately for Colgate, the Lion's keeper Paldino made a stellar save to push it out and away from danger.
- It was Rizzo's turn next to almost knot the score in the 40th minute when he beat the goalie with a low shot on goal. His attempt, however, just skimmed the left post and sail out for a goal kick.
- Rizzo then posted back-to-back scoring chances for the Raiders 10 minutes into the second half. The first one came at the 57:47 mark but his shot was stiffed by Paldino. Less than a minute later Rizzo tried his luck on net again but his shot sailed just high over the crossbar.
