HAMILTON - On a cold and rainy Thursday night, Colgate women's soccer continued its winning streak, defeating nearby rival Syracuse, 1-0.
The game-winning goal came just three minutes and 30 seconds into the match as rookie
Emily Crichlow netted her third career marker. Colgate was able to hold strong throughout the rest of the game coming up with key blocks to keep its shutout alive. With the victory, Colgate ended the Orange four-game unbeaten streak.
Fellow rookie
Eliza Doll initiated the Raider goal by using a throw in to find Crichlow roughly 22-yards out from net. The Edmonds, Washington, native saw an opening and fired a shot toward the goal. Her attempt blew past Syracuse keeper, MacKenzie Moranz, striking the crossbar and redirecting down over the line.

With the shutout victory Colgate has now allowed only one goal on Beyer-Small '76 Field in 380 minutes of action. The Raiders currently remain undefeated when playing on their home turf.
Colgate also rides its five-game unbeaten and three-game winning streak into Sunday's road contest at Harvard. Colgate is set to face the Crimson at 1 p.m. on Soldiers Field. There will also be a Raider tailgate following Sunday's game. To find out more information, click

The Early Bird Gets The Worm
• The Raiders scored their fastest goal of the season, just 3:30 into the contest.
- The played originated after Doll found Crichlow just beyond the right corner of the 18-yard box from a throw in. Crichlow took a few touches before striking a hard-driven shot on frame. Her attempt sailed past the Orange goalie hitting the crossbar and ricocheting down across the line for a goal.
- The goal marked Crichlow's third career goal and second in as many games.
- She now leads the team with six career points, all from goals.
Defending The Gate
• Colgate remains unbeaten at home following the 1-0 victory.
• The Raiders have also conceded only one goal in the last 380 minutes on Beyer-Small '76 Field.
Shutout No. 4
• Colgate earned its fourth shutout of the season.
• Mason single-handedly saved two potential Orange goals in each half.
- The first big-time save came with five minutes left to play in the opening 45 minutes. Lamontagne found herself inside the box with an open shot on net. She was unable to power it past Mason, however, as the sophomore made an incredible stop.
- Mason again came to Colgate's defense followed a scramble in front of the net. The Webster, New York, native stiffed a Syracuse shot attempt from Street at the 74:27 mark, keeping her shutout intact.
Unofficial Colgate Nike Classic Champions
• With both Syracuse and Colgate finishing the Colgate Nike Classic 2-0 over the weekend, tonight's game marked the rubber match between the two teams.
• After Colgate's 1-0 victory over the Orange, the Raiders unofficially claimed the Colgate Nike Classic title.
Central New York Rivalry
• Syracuse and Colgate have played 18 contests between them beginning in 1996.
• The Orange hold the overall advantage at 14-3-1.
• Tonight's win, however, marked Colgate's first over Syracuse since 2006.
• The Syracuse-Colgate rivalry has also been decided by just one goal in each of their last five meetings.
