HAMILTON - Colgate women's hockey and head coach
Greg Fargo have announced the addition of seven players to the 2014-15 roster.
The newcomers are split with two Americans and five Canadians joining the team of already 16 returning players. The seven players include five forwards, and two blue liners. With the loss of six from the graduating class of 2014, Fargo is confident that these strong seven will make an immediate impact on the ice for the Raiders.
Â
"It is with great pride we welcome our 2014 recruiting class to the Colgate Hockey family," Fargo said. "We are adding seven high quality people, students and athletes to our hockey program. Each of these recruits are highly motivated and eager to help our program reach its potential. We are confident of the contributions this group will make both immediately and over the course of their collegiate careers at Colgate."
Â
Fargo on DeCaprio: "When people get a chance to see Ellie play, they will see that she's a fierce competitor. She's tough to play against in those battle areas on the ice and she has a knack around the net. She is a smart player and her work ethic is second to none. We are thrilled about her upside." Â | Fargo on Perry: "Shelby is another former captain of her team, she's a selfless player and makes others around her better. She brings offensive ability and she has great hockey sense. I love her passion for the game, she wants to improve and is always asking me for ways to get her game to the next level. I believe her best hockey is yet to come." Â |
Fargo on Pinkney: "Kaila is a very strong skater and smart puck mover. She fits the style of play we are looking for from our defense corps, she brings size and strength, she's mobile and defends well. Kaila is a consistent competitor and we are certain she will make positive contributions at both ends of the rink." Â | Fargo on Sullivan: "Meg is a gifted player who is a proven point getter. She elevates her game at key times and has the ability to play various roles. She can score, make plays, win face-offs and just about anything else you need from her. Megan will have an immediate impact on our forward group." Â |
Fargo on Wildfang: "Lauren is a very dynamic and talented defenseman. She has a high compete level, exceptional hockey sense and she's been a leader on every team she's played on growing up. She has had a successful amateur career and like several incoming players, she brings championship-level experience that will benefit our program." Â | Fargo on Wilson-Bennett: "Breanne is an all-round athlete, she's played multiple sports growing up and she has succeeded at every level. She's the epitome of a team player, she'll play any role you ask and she is constantly coming through in the clutch. Bre is very talented, but I love her compete level, I think it separates her from a lot of other good players at her age." Â |
Fargo on Zalewski: "Coming from nearby New Hartford, NY, Annika is youngest of a gifted hockey family. We've been anxiously awaiting her arrival to Colgate. Annika plays the game with a lot of passion, she's gritty yet skilled and she has an exceptional work ethic. She's a smart player that does so many little things well making her a significant two-way contributor." | |
