Hume Leads Colgate at Lehigh

Senior Kenzie Hume Recorded Nine Kills to Lead Colgate in a 3-0 Setback to Lehigh Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Kenzie Hume recorded nine kills and fasioned a .571 hitting percentage, but Lehigh swept Colgate, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-14) in Patriot League volleyball action Friday.
Freshman Whitney Krantz tallied 14 kills and fashioned a .593 attack clip to power a Mountain Hawk lineup that combined for 48 spikes and .398 hitting percentage.
Senior Jade Van Streepen pitched in 14 kills while junior Stephanie Slater recorded nine kills and classmate Ana Vrhel chipped in seven spikes. Junior Amy Matula tallied a team-best 34 assists. Sophomore Mariah Brantley led the squad with 17 digs.
 
Hume fashioned a .571 hitting percentage as she committed just one error in 14 total attempts. Sophomore Katie Stebbins notched seven spikes and junior Katie Fauntleroy added six kills for the Raiders. Junior Jackie Macy dished out 21 assists while sophomore Madison McAndrews tallied a team-high 12 digs.

Won-Lost Records
 Lehigh improved to 12-2 in league play and 19-9 overall as it won its seventh straight contest.
Colgate slipped to 8-5 in conference action and 14-8 on the season with the setback.
 
How It Happened
- Colgate opened the match with four unanswered points, only to see Lehigh respond with a 7-2 spurt to gain a 7-6 edge. The two sides battled back and forth until, with the score even at 20-20, a Mountain Hawks kills ignited a 5-2 spurt that gave Lehigh a 25-22 victory and a 1-0 lead.
- The Raiders once again jumped out to a quick lead, using the serve of junior Jackie Macy to build a 5-0 cushion. Colgate held its lead through a majority of the frame, enjoying a 17-13 margin before Lehigh batted back to tie the score at 20-all. The Mountain Hawks once again preserved, tallying five of the remaining seven points of the set for a second 25-22 triumph and a 2-0 edge.
- Colgate held an early 6-5 edge in the third set, only to see Lehigh use a 10-4 run midway through the frame to expand a 10-8 lead into a 20-12 advantage as the Mountain Hawks cruised to a 25-14 decision and the match. 
 
Inside The Box Score
- The match featured a total of 17 ties and six lead changes. The first set was the most closely contested with 10 ties and three lead changes.
- Lehigh posted an attack percentage above .350 in all three sets, highlighted by a .400 (13-2-25) attack clip in the third frame.
Colgate posted a .250 hitting percentage in each of the first two sets, but was held to a (-.029) attack clip in the third set, recording nine kills and 10 errors in 35 total attempts.
