2015 Schedule
HAMILTON – Colgate softball announced Friday its 2015 schedule, which features games against NC State, North Dakota State, Stetson and Florida State.
The Raiders are scheduled to play a 28-game non-conference slate, including three different tournament appearances. Patriot League play kicks off March 21 at Army, where Colgate faces the Black Knights for a doubleheader. The conference season is broken up by doubleheaders with Siena, Albany, Niagara, and nearby rivals Cornell and Binghamton.
"I am really excited about our upcoming 2015 schedule, " Finley said. "This is our most competitive and balanced schedule we have had in my time here. Our pre-season has us facing up against some of the top competition in the country and our conference play is going to be even more competitive this year than in years past. It should be a great test for this team, which has the drive and desire to be the best that they can be."
Colgate's season opener is Feb. 20 against St. Joseph's at the NC State Tournament. The Raiders also face Georgia Southern, North Dakota State, St. Francis (Pa.), and host NC State during their time in North Carolina.
Next, Colgate heads down to DeLand, Florida, for the Stetson Tournament from Feb. 27 through March 1. That schedule has yet to be determined.
Then during spring break, the Raiders are in Tampa, Florida, for the University of South Florida (USF) Tournament, which kicks off March 13 versus Hartford. During that tournament, the Raiders will also compete against UMass. Lowell, Central Connecticut State, Seton Hall and Quinnipiac.
Following the USF Tournament, Colgate will travel to face Florida State on March 17 for a single game before visiting Florida A&M the next day for a doubleheader.
Following the busy out-of-conference slate, the Raiders finally open league play with a doubleheader at Army.
"Facing multiple teams early that have recently played in the postseason, it should set the bar for this team pretty quickly and I expect us to compete. Once we set that standard and head into conference play, we will continue to be a tough team to beat and won't take anyone for granted."
