ERIE, Pa. – The Colgate women's ice hockey team ran into a tough opponent on Tuesday night dropping a 3-0 decision to No. 8/10-ranked Mercyhurst.
The Lakers recorded a goal in each period, including a power play goal in the middle frame to secure the victory.
Rookie
Lauren Wildfang registered a team-high four shots in her first collegiate game for Colgate. Wildfang had missed the Raiders' first 12 games of the season due to injury.
Fellow classmate
Shelby Perry also added three shots of her own to Colgate's total 15 shots.
The Raiders' goaltender
Brittney Brooks stopped 18 Mercyhurst shots, while the Lakers' Amanda Makela made 15 saves.
Mercyhurst goals came from Sarah Robello, Jenna Dingeldein, and Emily Janiga.
Colgate returns to action Wednesday when these two teams face off with each other in the final contest of this two-game set.

Period Breakdown• The Lakers came out with high pressure and tallied the eventual game-winner just 2:16 into the contest.
• Mercyhurst made it a two-goal hole for the Raiders when Dingeldein found the back of the net on a power play after Colgate was called for having too many skaters on the ice.
• The Raiders tried to cut into the Lakers' lead with five solid shots throughout the period but were unable to put one past Makela.
• The final period was very even with both teams nothing six shots each. Unfortunately for Colgate, the Lakers were able to net another marker 7:16 into the period to secure the 3-0 win.
