Brown Scores in Regular Season Finale at BU

Colgate Completed the Regular Season With a 4-1 Setback at No. 20 Boston University Saturday

HAMILTON – Senior Eliana Brown scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season, but No. 20 Boston University scored twice in each half to post a 4-1 victory over Colgate in Patriot League field hockey action Saturday at New Balance Field.
 
The Raiders will serve as the fourth seed for the 2014 Patriot League Field Hockey Championship, scheduled for Nov. 7-8 at Bucknell. Colgate will face the top-seeded Bison Nov. 7 in the first semifinal contest at Graham Field. The match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
 
How It Happened
- Boston University scored just over three minutes apart midway through the first half to build a quick 2-0 lead. Junior Sofi Laurito opened the scoring in the 11th minute while sophomore Amanda Cassera struck at the 13:26 mark. Sophomore Hester van der Laan picked up an assist on both goals.
- Cassera added her second goal of the contest during the 45th minute to stretch the Terriers advantage to 3-0 before Brown struck to make it a 3-1 contest. Junior Jessica Gardiner started the play with a shot from the middle of the circle that was blocked into the air, where Brown knocked it home for her eighth goal of the campaign.
- The Terriers closed out the scoring with 5:32 remaining on a goal from sophomore Rachel Feig.

- Brown recorded her team-leading eighth goal of the season. She increased her team-leading point total to 19 (8G/3A).
- Gardiner notched her team-best seventh assist of the season on the goal by Brown. She now has 11 points to her credit during the 2014 campaign.
