Colgate Battles To 1-1 Draw With Bucknell

HAMILTON – Colgate men's soccer scored in the 85th minute to post a 1-1 tie with Bucknell in Patriot League action Saturday at Beyer-Small '76 Field.
 
Trailing 1-0 late in the second half, sophomore Ethan Kutler played a corner kick into the box that was deflected into the net by a Bucknell defender for an own goal to knot the score at 1-1.
 
The two teams remained tied through the final 25:24 of the contest as both teams earned a point in the Patriot League standings for their efforts.

- Colgate moved to 2-3-1 in Patriot League play and 6-7-2 overall with the draw.

How It Happened
- Following a scoreless first half, Bucknell got on the board first in the 49th minute. Jonathan Grad played a through ball to Jesse Klug, who found a seam in the Raiders defense on the left side and slipped the ball into the net for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.
- The Raiders drew level at the 84:36 mark when Kutler's corner kick from the left side was headed into the Bucknell net by a Bison defender for an own goal.
- Colgate had the best opportunity of the two overtime sessions when sophomore Zach Pagani fired a shot from the top of the box that was turned aside at the last moment by Bucknell keeper Clarke Fox to keep the game tied.
 
Inside The Box Score
- Bucknell held a slim 11-10 shot advantage in the contest. Colgate posted a 6-4 edge in shots taken in the second half and a 3-2 margin during the first overtime session.
- Both teams were credited with eight corner kicks during the game. The Raiders held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks taken in the second half.
- Zach Tamen led the Raiders with four shot attempts while Klug paced the Bison with four shot tries.
- Sophomore Ricky Brown made five saves in goal for the Raiders while Fox finished with two stops for the Bison.
 
Going To Overtime
- Colgate played its fifth overtime contest of the season with its extra-session affair against Bucknell on Saturday.
- The Raiders have faired well in overtime games this season, posting a 2-1-2 mark in those games with wins over St. Mary's (Calif.) and Lafayette, ties with Albany and Bucknell and a loss to Niagara.
