Penalty Kick Goal Lifts Raiders, 3-2

Smith, Pagani, and Kutler All Notch Markers; Brown Records Seven Saves

Worcester, Mass. – Sophomore Ethan Kutler placed a penalty kick into the lower left-hand corner of the net to help secure a Colgate victory over Holy Cross on Saturday night.

The Raiders opened the game up early scoring two goals in the first seven minutes. Holy Cross cut into Colgate's lead in the 74th minute and despite another Crusader goal with three minutes remaining, Kutler's penalty kick tally in the 81st minute proved to be the game-winner.

Geinda Smith and Zach Pagani joined Kutler on the scoring sheet, notching the Raiders' opening two goals.

Kutler had a hand in each of Colgate's goals, posting two assists before finding the back of the net himself. He currently leads the league with 26 points and 11 goals on the year. He also sits second in the league with four game-winning goals.

Colgate is back on the pitch Tuesday for a mid-week game with nearby Hartwick at 7 p.m. The contest is set for Beyer-Small '76 Field and will have live stats and video available.

Game-Winner

Other Colgate Tallies
• Smith notched the Raiders' opening goal a mere five minutes into the game.
            - Kutler sent a perfectly placed corner kick to the head of Zach Tamen, who was waiting near the back of the 18-yard box. The sophomore was able to get a head on it passing it along to Smith, who redirected it past Holy Cross' keeper, Kevin Wright.
• Pagani was behind Colgate's second goal a little over a minute later when he converted on a breakaway opportunity.
            - Again Kutler started the play by sending a long pass in to Pagani down the right side of the field. The sophomore took a few touches before riffling a shot into the left side of the net, creating a two-goal lead for the Raiders.
