BALTIMORE Md. – The Colgate volleyball team had to regroup after losing the first set to Loyola and the Raiders responded by winning the last three to earn a 3-1 win on Friday night.

The win sets up the biggest match of the year in the Patriot League with home court advantage on the line for the Patriot League Tournament with Colgate going to American tomorrow. Both the Raiders and Eagles won tonight, so the top spot is still up for grabs.

Colgate (21-7, 13-2 PL) was led by Lindsay Young with 16 kills and only had one error and hit over .600, which was one of her best matches of the season. The Raiders continue to get great performances from Diane Seely and the reigning Molten Player of the Week had a 14 kills and hit 39 percent. Kaylee Fifer put up 41 assists and a team-high three aces, while Caitlin Cremin filled up the stat sheet on the defensive end with 17 digs.

After dropping the first set, the Raiders responded with a 25-16 win in the second. The teams played evenly throughout the first 23 points of the second set with the Greyhounds earning a 12-11 lead. Colgate countered with five-straight points and took a 16-12 lead with a kill from Seely and an ace from Kathleen Harris. The Raiders held onto the four-point lead and closed out the set with an 8-1 run. Fifer had two aces during the run and Katie Stebbins and Mari Faines added kills to help the Raiders tie the match at 1-1.

The third set was very familiar to the second with neither team gaining a big advantage until Colgate jumped ahead at 15-12. Fifer added an ace and Lindsay Young contributed with a kill. The Raiders pulled away late in the set again with another 8-1 run to go ahead at 23-14. Cremin had an ace and Seely and Harris added kills during the run. Colgate finished off the set thanks to a pair of Greyhound errors and the Raiders had 2-1 lead with a 25-16 win in the second set.

Colgate took the momentum into the fourth set and got out to a 13-6 advantage. Seely had three kills early on and Young added two. Loyola tried to put a dent in the lead, but the Raiders didn't allow that to happen and cruised to the 25-16 win and took the match at 3-1.

The Raiders will have to win tomorrow at American in four or less sets to get the top spot in the Patriot League Tournament.  Match time is set for 2 p.m.
