Cross Country Competed at Paul Short Invite

Raiders Faced Tough Competition in Top-Tier Race

#2231 Scott Walker finished Colgate's best runner on the day placing 86th out of a possible 372 competitors.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
Both Colgate cross country teams traveled to the campus of Lehigh to take part in the prestigious Paul Short Invitational. The men finished in 15th place in the brown race while the women ended in 47th place in the gold race.

The men scored 505 points and finished ahead of Patriot League foes Loyola and Lafayette. The Raiders also placed ahead of Siena, Longwoood, Temple, George Washington, St. Bonaventure, and Mount St. Mary's.

After having only one competitor from the 2012 team participate in last year's race, the men's team saw sophomore Scott Walker lead them in the 8K, placing 86th out of a possible 372 runners. His time of 26:53 earned him the title of Colgate's top finisher on the day. Everett Stilley and Chris Noda finished in 88th and 91st with times of 26:54 and 26:56, respectively, to close out the Raiders' in the top-100.

The remaining four Colgate runners crossed the line in the next 50 finishers. Greg Englehart was fourth for the Raiders with a time of 27:07, notching him 107th place. Rookie Bennett Levis took home 133rd place with a time of 27:22 while Cody Hawkins (138th place) and James Paris (150th place) clocked in at 27:24 and 27:32, respectively.

The Raider women were led by junior Megan Keane, who placed 143rd out of a possible 406 runners. Her time of 22:13 in the 6K made her Colgate's top competitor in the race. Holland Reynolds was the Raider's next finisher in 285th place with a time of 23:31, followed by Emily Hanrahan in 313th with a time of 24:24.

Caroline Davidson was the fourth Colgate runner to cross the line in 324th place clocking in at 25:32. Rookie Shannon Young finished two after her in 326th with a time of 26:03. Freshmen Anna Orientale and Rebecca Easly closed out the Raider runners in 327th and 329th place with times of 26:17 and 27:44, respectively. 

The women tallied 1,391 points and finished ahead of George Washington.

Both the men and women compete next at the Leopards Invitational held at Lafayette on Oct. 19 beginning at 10 a.m.
