ANNAPOLIS, Md. (3/1/12) – Senior
Tricia Oakes recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Colgate women's basketball team fell to No. 3 Navy 66-54 Thursday night in the Patriot League quarterfinal at Alumni Hall. The Raiders senior class combined for 30 points in their final collegiate game.
Sophomore guard
Lauryn Kobiela also scored in double-figures for Colgate (8-22, 5-9) with 11 points, while senior
Kelly Korkowski pitched in eight points, four rebounds and two blocked shots. Freshman
Mariah Jones also had a productive game with six points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Navy (16-13, 8-6) opened the game with a 7-0 run, before the Raiders responded with a 6-1 run to make the score 8-6 with 15:44 left. The Mids then answered back with a 7-1 run over the next three minutes to build a 15-7 lead. Both teams then exchanged baskets for the next couple of minutes before the Mids broke the game open with a 15-4 run to lead 32-13 with 3:40 remaining. But the Raiders wouldn't give up as they closed the half with an 8-2 run to trim the Mids lead to 34-21 during the intermission. Oakes led the Raiders with seven points and four rebounds, but Colgate committed eight turnovers in the half and only shot 23 percent.
The Mids started the second half with a 14-6 run to build their largest lead of the game 48-27 with 14:30 remaining. But the Raiders answered back with a 14-0 run, including three-straight lay-ups from Oakes to make the score 48-41 with 7:47 left. Both teams then exchanged baskets for the next four minutes until Lynch made a pair of free-throws to make the score 55-50 with 3:36 left. But that was as close as the game would get as Navy grabbed some key offensive rebounds and made just enough free throws down the stretch to advance to the semifinals.
Navy shot 44 percent (24-54) from the floor, while holding the Raiders to just 35 percent (20-58) overall, including 1-of-15 from downtown. Navy also won the battle on the boards 42-35 but committed 20 turnovers that resulted in 17 points for Colgate.

Holly Havenstein, Korkowski and Oakes combined for 37 percent of the Colgate scoring this season along with 40 percent of the total rebounds. Through their careers the senior class amassed a total of 2,064 points, 1,365 rebounds and 199 blocked shots.
