Men's Basketball Travels to Lehigh Saturday

The Colgate University men's basketball team will continue Patriot League play when it visits Lehigh on Saturday, Feb. 11. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Stabler Arena and will be streamed live on Patriot League All-Access.

THE SERIES WITH LEHIGH
This will be the 78th meeting between Colgate and Lehigh with the Raiders leading the all-time series 47-30. Lehigh won the first matchup this season 78-56 at Cotterell Court and is looking to sweep the Raiders for the first time since the 2009-10 season. Colgate swept the series against the Mountain Hawks last year, including a 94-90 win in overtime at Stabler Arena.

LAST TIME OUT
Three Bison scored in double-figures including reigning Patriot League Player of the Year Mike Muscala as Bucknell topped the Colgate men's basketball team 66-50 Wednesday night at Cotterell Court.

Colgate (7-17, 1-8) got seven points from Sterling Melville, while Nick Pascale and Luke Roh both pitched in six. Freshman Matt McMullen along with junior Clayton Graham both scored career-high's with five points for the Raiders, while McMullen also dished out three assists.

Bucknell shot 40.4 percent from the floor, while holding Colgate to just 25.9 percent. Bucknell also won the battle on the boards 48-31.

SCOUTING LEHIGH (18-7, 6-3 PL)
After jumping out to a 21-10 lead, Lehigh's offense went ice cold, finishing with its second-lowest point output of the season in a 71-62 loss at American (16-8, 7-2 Patriot League) Thursday night. Junior C.J. McCollum finished with 30 points, his fifth game with 30 or more points this season. After scoring 23 points in the first nine minutes, the Mountain Hawks went cold in scoring only 39 over the final 31 minutes.

With his 30 points, McCollum moved up a slot in both Lehigh and Patriot League history for career points, now with 1,850. Senior Jordan Hamilton also reached double figures, scoring 11 points. Junior Gabe Knutson added eight to pull within 15 of 1,000 for his career.

The Mountain Hawks finished shooting 38 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range. American shot 47 percent overall and from long distance. The Eagles held a commanding 55-27 edge on the boards.

VENEZIA HONING IN ON 1,000 POINTS
Colgate senior Mike Venezia is just 16 points (984) away from becoming the 29th Raider to join the 1,000-point club. Venezia has scored in double-figures in nine of the last 13 games and is averaging 11.2 points per game during that time.

ONE BLOCK AWAY
Colgate senior Nick Pascale is closing in on becoming just the fifth Raider in school history to score 500 or more points, grab 500 or more rebounds and block 100 or more shots in a career. Pascale currently has 576 points, 526 rebounds and 99 blocked shots.

ROLLS SHARING THE ROCK
Colgate junior guard Mitch Rolls recently entered the top-10 all-time at Colgate with 264 assists. Rolls has distributed 58 helpers this season and is averaging 2.5 per game, which ranks 12th in the Patriot League. Rolls currently ranks sixth all-time, just eight helpers behind Josh Farrell '87 (272) for fifth. Hassan Brown '94 holds the school record with 484 assists.

1,000 POINTS AND COUNTING
Last season, senior forward Yaw Gyawu became the 28th player in school history to join the 1,000-point club. Gyawu currently has 1,189 points which ranks 19th, only three points from passing Rick Caputo '69 (1,191) for 18th overall.

VENEZIA KEEPS RAINING THREES  
Colgate senior Mike Venezia has made a total of 185 three-pointers in his career which is tied for fourth all-time at Colgate with Jon Simon '07. Former teammate Kyle Roemer '10 holds the school record with 267.

UP NEXT
Colgate will continue Patriot League play when it hosts Army on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Cotterell Court and will be streamed live on Patriot League All-Access. The Raiders will also wear pink shoes during the game to help raise awareness for breast cancer.
