Raiders Run Strong in Boston

BOSTON, Mass. (1/22/12)
- The Colgate University men's indoor track and field team opened its 2012 Indoor season at Boston University. The Raiders scored strong in the sprinting events as junior Jason Taylor won the 60-meter hurdles and finished third in the 60-meter dash.

Taylor snapped the tape in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.68, while also recording a time of 7.27 in the 60m dash. Also placing in the dash was sophomore Christopher Krieg who finished fifth overall with a time of 7.36. Both improved their personal best times in the finals. They scored 12.5 points for Colgate, which finished fifth overall with 30 points.

Senior Graham Tooker placed second in the 200- and third in the 400-meter dash, with personal-best times of 21.92 and 48.68, respectively, both are IC4A qualifying performances. Both times rank second all-time at Colgate and first in the Patriot League this season.  Tooker accumulated nine points with his performance.

Also qualifying for the IC4A Championships was junior Chris Johnson with a personal-best time of 8:19.51 in the 3000-meter run. Johnson's time ranks third all-time at Colgate and is second in the Patriot League this year.

Senior Timothy Metivier also placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.94 scoring four point for the Raiders and topping his opening performance from 2011.

The Raiders will return home on Jan. 28th, hosting the Class of '32 Invitational at Sanford Field House. The events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
