CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (1/21/12) – The Colgate women's hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision on the road to ECAC Hockey foe #9/9 Harvard on Saturday afternoon. The Raiders were outshot 35-20 in the game.

After a battle of possession in the opening minutes of play, Colgate (8-16-1, 3-10-1 ECAC Hockey) soon found itself playing a skater down after receiving a penalty at the 3:33 mark. This allowed the Crimson to find some offensive rhythm with a series of shots but could not get past the defense and senior goalie Kimberly Sass. The Raiders then found their first power play opportunity 10 minutes later but, like Harvard, could not capitalize on the advantage. It looked like it was going to be a scoreless period until the 18:56 mark when Lyndsey Fry picked up the rebound from a save by Sass and knocked the puck into the frame to give the Crimson a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period.
 
In the second frame Colgate found itself with four power play advantages, with the first one starting in the opening minute. However, despite gaining the extra skater on four occasions, the Raiders could not find the back of the net. The Crimson had two advantages in the second 20 minutes or play, one of which was a 5-on-3 opportunity, but could not extend its lead in the scoreless period.
 
Harvard bounced back and went on to score three more goals in the final frame, two of which were in the first 32 seconds, to win the game 4-0.
 
Kimberly Sass had 31 saves for Colgate while Laura Bellamy had 20 stops for the Crimson. Both teams went scoreless in the 12 extra skater advantages that they accumulated between them.
 
The Raiders will continue play next weekend when they hit the road for a pair of ECAC Hockey matchups against Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Jan. 27 and 28 respectively.
