HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/8/11) – Former Colgate University football standout Pat Nolan '08 will run the New York City Marathon for charity. Nolan will be running for the “Lead The Way Fund” on Nov. 6.
"It is my honor and privilege to run for the Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund,” said Nolan. “This fund allows everyone to provide support to the men, women, and families who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I am particularly pleased to be able introduce this cause to the Colgate community."
This will be the first marathon for Nolan, who was a third team All-American defensive tackle for the Raiders in 2007.
"My first response to being asked if I would run the 2011 NYC marathon was No way could I ever do that,” stated Nolan. “After contemplating the run further, I decided that the real test was not one of physical ability but mental fortitude. I let the challenge beat me before I fully considered it and decided that this was no way to approach problems in my life personally or professionally. With a strict plan, vigorous training, and mental toughness I decided I could complete this task. I've learned to approach problems now in terms of 'Trained versus Untrained' rather than 'Can versus Cannot.' This has been a very valuable experience for me."
