LEWISBURG, PA. (5/1/11) – The No. 16/19 Colgate men's lacrosse team fell to No. 1 seed and nationally ranked Bucknell 10-3 in the Patriot League Tournament championship game on Sunday afternoon.

Andrew Mould scored twice for the Raiders while sophomore
Matt Baker had one goal.
The game got off to a physical start with both teams fighting to get possession of the first faceoff. Bucknell eventually won the groundball and after working it around the goal, opened scoring at the 13:26 mark to take the 1-0 lead. Colgate then picked up the second face off and began to attack the Bison's net, creating a series of scoring opportunities but could not get past All-Patriot League second team selection, Kyle Feeney. Then, at the 9:56 mark, Baker picked up a pass from sophomore
Peter Baum and fired the ball into the net to tie the game at 1-1.
As the period progressed, Bucknell began to generate its offense once again and at the 8:20 mark took a 2-1 lead. Still carrying their scoring momentum, the Bison continued to attack the net but could not get past junior
Jared Madison who made one impressive save after another. The offensive surge soon paid off for Bucknell, finding the net at the 5:12 mark to extend its lead to two goals. The Raiders continued to play some strong defense in the closing minutes of the game with senior
Greg Perkins making a much-needed defensive save at the 3:25 mark to keep his team in the game. However, a pair of Bison goals at the 1:36 mark and then with four seconds left on the clock, gave Bucknell the 5-1 advantage at the end of the first 15 minutes of play. Colgate was outshot 16-6.
In the second period, Bucknell came out to a strong start, finding a goal at the 13:01 mark to extend it lead to five goals. The Bison continued to hold majority of the ball possession as it moved the ball around the Colgate goal and attempted to find another goal. Feeling the pressure, the Raiders continued to play aggressive defense as they attempted to find their offensive rhythm. Midway through the half, the team was finally able to get its attack going and their efforts were soon rewarded at the 6:28 mark when Mould broke through the defense and shot the ball past Feeney to reduce the score to 6-2. Colgate continued to attack the net in the closing minutes of the game but could not get past Feeney and a sturdy Bison defense, leaving the score at 6-2 at half time.
Both teams came out playing aggressively in the third period with Colgate looking to put itself back in the game with an early goal. Bucknell held majority of the ball possession but as the clock wound down, the Raiders were able to fire a series of shots but could not find a goal to reduce the four-goal deficit. In the closing minutes of the quarter, it was Bucknell that was able to find success with a pair of goals at the 5:38 and 4:08 marks to put the score at 9-2 going into the final 15 minutes of play.
Colgate came out to an explosive start in the final period with Mould once again finding a hole in Bucknell's defense and scoring the team's third goal to put the score at 9-3. The Bison then slowed the pace of the game down to stop Colgate from finding it moment while finding a goal at the 9:32 mark to increase their lead, which they held until the final whistle to win the 2011 Patriot League Tournament 10-3 and advance to the NCAA Tournament.

The Raiders will resume play next weekend when they travel to No. 5/6 Maryland for their final regular-season game on May 7 at 12 p.m. in College Park, Md.
