Graham Tooker won the 200-meter dash and finished third in the 400 as the Colgate men's indoor track and field team kicked off its 2011-12 season Saturday at the Jay Carisella Track & Field Invitational hosted by Northeastern University.
No team scores were recorded in the meet with the Raiders competing in a small selection of events.
Tooker highlighted the sprinting events for the Raiders claiming the 200-meter dash title with a time of 22.54, while finishing third overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.76. Junior
Jason Taylor also had a good showing in his first collegiate meet as he finished 11th overall in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.76 and then followed with a 10th place finish in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.17.
Chris Johnson, the 2011 Patriot League individual cross country champion, headlined the distance events with a second place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:41.49. Sophomore
J.T. Ahearn also had a strong showing in the 800-meter run as he finished sixth overall with a time of 2:00.44, while freshman
Stefan Oliva finished seventh with a time of 2:00.57.
The Raiders will return to Boston for the Harvard Challenge on Friday, January 20.
