Raiders Face #10/10 Harvard and Dartmouth this Weekend

The team will look to improve on its 1-1-1 ECAC Hockey record this weekend.

HAMILTON, N.Y. (11/9/11)
– The Colgate women's hockey team will continue ECAC Hockey play this weekend when it returns to Starr Rink for a pair of matchups against #10/10 Harvard and Dartmouth.
 
Colgate (4-5-1, 1-1-1 ECAC Hockey) will first play the Crimson on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. before facing the Big Green on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m.
 
The Raiders are coming off a two-game set against Niagara last weekend falling to the Purple Eagles 2-1 on Friday and then 1-0 on Saturday. Freshman Miriam Drubel scored the team's lone goal of the weekend, tallying her ninth point of the season.
 
SCORING LEADERS
Junior Brittany Phillips continues to lead the team with 15 points from five goals and 10 assists. She is second in the league in points and assists, and is tied for second in power play goals with three. Phillips is followed by freshman Melissa Kueber who has seven goals and three assists for 10 points. The rookie is still ranked sixth in the nation in points per game for a rookie and is second in the league in goals. Behind them are freshman Miriam Drubel and sophomore Jocelyn Simpson who have nine points apiece.
 
SASS CLIMBS THE COLGATE ALL-TIME LISTS
Senior Kimberly Sass continues to have a stellar performance in net for the Raiders. She is currently ranked second in program history in career saves with 1,915, is tied for fourth with 28 career wins and is fourth in career shutouts with seven. The goaltender currently has a league-high 289 saves this season after collecting 50 saves in last weekend's games against Niagara.
 
SERIES
Harvard leads the all-time series against the Raiders 17-1-2 since the teams first met in the 2001-02 season. Colgate's two ties against the Crimson were in its first meeting of the series and in its first matchup of the 2008-09 season. The Raiders' only win was in the 2006-07 season when they defeated Harvard 3-1 at Starr Rink.
 
Dartmouth also leads the all-time series against Colgate, owning a 25-5-2 record since they first met in the 2001-02 season. The Raiders' most recent wins were a 6-4 win in the 2009-10 season and a 7-6 overtime victory in the 2008-09 season during the ECACHL Quarterfinals, both on the road. The Big Green won the most recent meeting 4-3 in Colgate's final game of the 2010-11 season on Feb. 19.
 
SCOUTING #10/10 HARVARD
The Crimson (2-0, 2-0 ECAC Hockey), which was picked to finish second in the preseason poll, is coming off a pair of league wins in its opening weekend on Oct. 28 and 29. The team first defeated St. Lawrence 7-1 before edging past Clarkson 2-1 in overtime. It will resume play against Colgate in its third game of the season after taking a break last weekend.
 
Harvard is led by sophomore Marissa Gedman, junior Jillian Dempsey and sophomore Lyndsey Fry. Gedman has a team-high five points from two goals and three assists while Dempsey and Fry have three points each from two goals and one assist apiece. In goal the team is led by junior Laura Bellamy who started in both games and has a total of 42 saves for a .955 save percentage.
 
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green (1-2-1, 1-0-1 ECAC Hockey) is coming off a 5-4 overtime loss to New Hampshire on Sunday. The team, which was picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll, also has a loss to No. 5 Boston College, a 2-2 tie with Clarkson and a 1-0 shutout win over St Lawrence. Dartmouth will play #2/2 Cornell on Friday before facing Colgate on Saturday.
 
The team is led by seniors Kelly Foley and Reagan Fischer as well as junior Camille Dumais. Foley and Fischer have a team-high five points each. Foley has four goals and one assist while Fischer has one goal and four assists. Behind them is Dumais who has four points from one goal and three assists. Leading the way in net is sophomore Lindsay Holdcroft who has a 1.95 goals against average and a total of 86 saves for a .935 save percentage.
 
ECAC PRESEASON POLL
The Colgate women's ice hockey team was picked to finish ninth in the 2011-12 ECAC Hockey Preseason Poll that was released on Sept. 15. The Raiders received 41 points for ninth place above Yale, Brown and Union. Two-time defending regular-season and tournament champion Cornell was picked to finish first with 121 votes and 11 first-place votes.
