NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (11/26/11) - The Colgate women's basketball team fell to No. 25 UCLA 68-48 in the consolation game of the Woodland Hills Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Basketball Classic Saturday night at the Matadome.

Junior Jhazmine Lynch, who was named to the Holiday Inn Basketball Classic All-Tournament Team, led the Raiders with 14 points, while freshman Kelly Reid scored seven.  Kathryn Taylor led the team with six rebounds, while Lynch grabbed five.

Colgate (0-7) opened the game with an early 4-2 lead after back-to-back baskets from Mariah Jones and Lynch, forcing the Bruins to call a timeout. UCLA then tied the game with a basket from Atonye Nyingifa, but the Raiders responded three-straight points to take a 7-4 lead with 16:43 remaining.  The Bruins would put together an 8-0 run over the next four minutes of action to take a 12-7 lead, but Colgate wouldn't go down easy as Candice Green hit a three pointer to trim the UCLA lead to 20-16 with 6:15 remaining. The Bruins would end the half with a 10-5 run to take a 30-21 lead into the locker room.

UCLA (3-2) opened the second half with a 9-0 run to lead 39-21 with 17:16 remaining. Colgate would answer back with an 11-4 run over the next four minutes to make the score 43-32, but that's as close as the score would get as the Bruins closed the game with a 25-16 run.

UCLA was led by Nyingifa and Rebekah Gardner who both recorded double-doubles. Nyingifa scored 19 points, while grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds, while Gardner scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 10 boards.

Both teams shot similar from the field and beyond the arc, but the Bruins won the game by outrebounding Colgate 49-36 and outshooting the Raiders 23-8 from the charity stripe.

The Raiders will head south to conclude their California trip at San Diego on Monday, Nov. 28. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PST (9:00 EST) at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
