Colgate women's basketball senior
Evan Librizzi (Essex Junction, Vt.) did more than just spend her summer working out with teammates
Krista Moser (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and
Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) in preparation for her final season with the Raiders. She spent it discovering her passion for sport through a management perspective.
The forward, who is currently majoring in English, decided to forgo a summer in her hometown of Essex Junction, Vt. and take up an internship with the Colgate University athletic department as a marketing and promotions intern.
While working with the department, her duties included everything from finding sponsors for Colgate Athletics and developing marketing ideas, to ordering promotional products and working with the compliance office; all of which gave her a profound appreciation for the department.
“This internship was a great experience,” Librizzi said. “As an athlete you never realize all the work that goes on behind the scenes to make a college athletic program successful. This internship made me very excited about my future and a possible career in sports management at the college level.”
Librizzi plans to attend graduate school and pursue a degree in sports management after she completes her bachelor's degree in May. She one day hopes to work at a Division I athletic department.
