Cornell Ends Raiders Season

 
ITHACA, N.Y. (02/27/10) -   The Colgate women's hockey team dropped game two of their ECAC Quarterfinal series against Cornell, bringing the Raiders season to an end. The Big Red blanked Colgate, 5-0, to move on to the semifinals.
 
Cornell jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, as leading scorer Catherine White put in the Big Red's first two goals in the opening 10 minutes of play. White first scored on the power-play at 7:40 in the first period. The sophomore lit the lamp again less than two minutes later and Laura Danforth added a third goal to close out the period.
 
The Big Red scored twice more on the power-play, once in the second and once in the third period. Both goals came off the stick of Lauriane Rougeau. Cornell finished 3-for-7 on the power-play, while the Raiders were 0-for-6.
 
Junior goaltender Lisa Plenderleith (Ajax, Ont.) made 30 saves for the Raiders while Amanda Mazzotta had 19 stops for Cornell. The two teams combined for 15 penalties in the game.
 
The Raiders finish the season 12-20-4 overall and 8-10-4 in the ECAC. Cornell improves to 16-2-6 in the league and 17-8-6 overall as they advance to the conference semifinals.
