Colgate Women Fall to Navy, 69-50

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (02/27/10) – Senior Katie Garman (Poplar Grove, Ill.) scored a team-high 10 points for the Colgate women's basketball team, but it wasn't enough as the Raiders fell to Navy, 69-50 in their final Patriot League game of the regular season. The Raiders drop to 10-18 overall and 5-9 in the league, while Navy improves to 16-13 overall and 8-6 in the conference.

Junior Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) added eight points for Colgate and freshman Jhazmine Lynch (San Diego, Calif.) had a team-high nine rebounds for the Raiders. Navy's Angela Myers led all scorers with 23 points while Kristin Bowen added 12 points and Cassie Consedine contributed 14.

Navy used four three-pointers to jump out to a 16-8 lead eight minutes into the first half but senior Garman drained a three and the squad laid in two more baskets to cut the lead to three, 16-13. The next several minutes were back and forth but the Mids went on an 11-2 run to close out the half, heading into the half-time break with a 41-25 advantage.

The Mids opened the second half with back-to-back lay-ups to earn a 20 point lead, 45-25. The Raiders fought hard during the second half but couldn't come back from the early first half deficit, as Navy led by at least 16 points for the remainder of the game.

Colgate shot 32.8 percent in the game and 60.0 percent from the free throw line. Navy shot 45.9 percent from the floor and went 5-10 from behind the arc in the first half. The Raiders led in rebounding 44-34.
