THIS WEEK
Wed., Feb. 17 - vs. Lehigh 7 p.m. EST (Patriot League All-Access)      Game Notes
Sun., Feb. 21 – at Bucknell 2 p.m. EST (Patriot League All-Access)

The Colgate University men's basketball team (8-16, 4-6) will play host to Lehigh (16-9, 7-3) on Wednesday at Cotterell Court. The Mountain Hawks try to maintain sole possession of first place in the League standings, while the Raiders attempt to stay in the hunt for a home game in the PL Tournament quarterfinals.

THE SERIES WITH LEHIGH
This will be the 74th meeting between Colgate and Lehigh with the Raiders leading the all-time series 45-28. Lehigh won the first meeting, 74-60, at home on Jan. 20, but Colgate will try to maintain the home dominance in the series. The home squad has won the past five meetings in the series as the teams have split the match-ups in the past two years.

SCOUTING COLGATE (8-16, 4-6)
The Raiders continue to produce dramatic victories, as they rallied multiple times and came away with a 75-74 win in double overtime against American on Saturday. Colgate won for the second straight time, with each triumph coming by one point in the final seconds. The Raiders' last three wins have all been by one point and featured last-second shots or misses by the opponent.
Senior guard Kyle Roemer (Martinez, Calif.) is Colgate's leading scorer and second in the Patriot League with 19.3 ppg, while sophomore Yaw Gyawu (Lilburn, Ga.) is averaging 15.1 ppg. Roemer is averaging 5.5 rpg, while classmate Ben Jonson (Dallas, Texas) is averaging 5.2 rpg. Freshman point guard Mitch Rolls (Coffeyville, Kan.), leads the team in assists with 79 and is fifth in the Patriot League with 3.3 apg.

SCOUTING LEHIGH (16-9, 7-3)
The Mountain Hawks dominated from start to finish to re-claim first place with a 78-66 win at home against Army on Saturday. Lehigh swept the Black Knights for the sixth time in the past eight seasons, and improved to 10-2 at Stabler Arena this year.
The Mountain Hawks are led by freshman sensation C.J. McCollum who has averaged 17.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg this season. Three other Mountain Hawks average double-digits scoring including senior Marquis Hall 10.7 ppg. Hall also leads Lehigh and the Patriot League in assists with 5.9 apg.

SCORING DUOS
Colgate continues to get solid production from its prolific scoring duo. The Raiders boast two of the top six scorers in the Patriot League, with Kyle Roemer (19.3 ppg) second, and Yaw Gyawu (15.1) sixth.

ROEMER GOES OVER 1,500
Kyle Roemer became just the 19th player in Patriot League history to go over 1,500 career points. Roemer passed the mark during a 31-point effort against Navy, and now occupies 15th place in League annals with 1,556 points. He became just the seventh player in Colgate history with 1,500 points, and first since Adonal Foyle with 1,500 points and 400 rebounds. Roemer is also nearing the Patriot League record book for three-pointers made.

JONSON THE MAN AT THE MOMENT
Colgate claimed two exhilarating wins in the past week, and senior forward Ben Jonson was in the middle of the action both times. On Wednesday, Jonson hit the game-winning free throw with four seconds left in the Raiders' 74-73 win over Lafayette. He had multiple key plays in Saturday's thrilling 75-74 double-overtime victory over American. Jonson sent the game to overtime on a layup with 34 seconds to play. In the extra session, he capped a wild comeback by receiving an inbounds with 0.4 seconds left and quickly sinking a 12-foot shot to send the game to a second overtime. His big play in the second extra session came on defense, as he blocked American star Vlad Moldoveanu's first game-winning attempt and forced a miss on the rebound to help the Raiders earn the win. Colgate's last three victories have all been by one point with a basket or defensive stop in the final five seconds.

ALL-LEAGUE HONORS
Point guard Mitch Rolls was named the Patriot League Men's Basketball Anaconda Rookie of the Week, following his performance against Stony Brook (Dec. 14). This marks the first-ever weekly honor for Rolls and the first for a Raider this season.

THE DAVIS FILE
Head coach Emmett Davis (St. Lawrence, 1984) is in his 12th year in charge at Colgate, owning the most wins in school history with 156.
During coach Davis' decade long tenure, the Colgate program has been a model of consistency.  In nine of his 11 seasons, Davis has led the Raiders to either the upper division of the Patriot League standings or advanced the team to the semifinals or finals of the conference tournament.  From 2001-2004 the Raiders finished with three consecutive regular season winning records (2001-02…17-10, 2002-03…14-13, and 2003-04…14-13) and in 2007-08 the Raiders tied the school record for wins in a season with 18.
Davis reached another career milestone in November 2005, as Colgate defeated Matt Doherty's Florida Atlantic team 78-74 earning coach Davis his 100th career victory making him just the fifth coach in school history to win 100 games.

PATRIOT LEAGUE PRESEASON POLL
The Raiders have been selected fifth in the Patriot League preseason poll in voting done by the league coaches and sports information directors.
Holy Cross notched 13 first-place votes and 95 points overall to claim the top spot, and were followed in order by Lehigh (78), Bucknell (63), Army (59), Colgate (51), American (45), Navy (43) and Lafayette (14).
The Raiders made the Patriot League semifinals for the second straight time last season, and have five starters back in the lineup. That group includes the top three scorers from last year, as Mike Venezia (10.8 ppg), Ben Jonson (10.4) and Yaw Gyawu (10.2) all averaged in double figures. The Raiders also bring back senior guard/forward Kyle Roemer, a Second-Team All-Patriot League pick in 2007-08 who missed the 2008-09 season with an injury.
