Raiders Set for Three-Game Trip to Colorado

SCHEDULE

Tue., Dec. 28 - at Northern Colorado 7 p.m. EST (Greeley, Colo.)
Thu., Dec. 30 – at Colorado 7 p.m. EST (Boulder, Colo.)
Sun., Jan. 2 – at Air Force 2 p.m. EST (USAF Academy, Colo.)

The Colgate women's basketball team will travel to Colorado over the New Year for its final three non-conference games of the season. The Raiders will first play Northern Colorado on Dec. 28 before taking on Colorado on Dec. 30 followed by Air Force on Jan. 2, 2011.

Colgate (5-6) is coming off a 77-70 setback to Bryant on Dec. 11. Despite making a comeback late in the second half, the team could not secure the win. Sophomore Jhazmine Lynch (San Diego, Calif.) had a team-high 22 points, four steals and five assists while senior Tayler Wejnert (Ramsey, N.J.) contributed 18 points, four steals and a team-best seven rebounds for the Raiders.

COURT LEADERS
Lynch leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game, which is the second highest in the league. She also leads the team and the league in steals with 2.9 per game. The sophomore is followed by Wejnert who has an average of 13.5 points per game. Senior Krista Moser (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) continues to lead the team in rebounds, averaging 7.5 per game.

SERIES
This will be the first time Colgate faces Northern Colorado and Colorado in the history of the program. This will be the Raiders' second meeting with Air Force, who leads the all-time series 1-0. The two teams first met in the 1984-85 season when the Falcons defeated Colgate 78-55 at the Harvard Tournament.

SCOUTING NORTHERN COLORADO

The Bears (4-8) are coming off a 74-46 win over San Francisco on Dec. 20. The team also has wins against South Dakota Tech, Santa Clara, and Air Force, and has losses to South Dakota, Central Michigan, Northeastern, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Colorado State, Nebraska and Denver.

Northern Colorado is led by sophomore Lauren Oosdyke and freshman D'shara Strange. Oosdyke leads the team with an average of 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while Brown is averaging 10.7 points and a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING COLORADO

The Buffaloes (7-4) are coming off two losses at the Women of Troy Basketball Tournament in Los Angeles, Calif. They first suffered a 68-54 loss to USC on Dec. 18 followed by a 70-50 loss to Dayton on Dec. 19. The team has wins over Regis, Santa Clara, Tennessee-Martin, Evansville, Loyola-Chicago, Texas State and Colorado State, and also has losses to Illinois and Denver.

Colorado is led by senior Brittany Spears and sophomore Chucky Jeffery. Spears leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.6 points per game while also averaging 7.6 rebounds. Jeffery, who has a team-high 56 assists, has an average of 15.9 points per game and a team-best 9.1 rebound average.

SCOUTING AIR FORCE

The Falcons (4-7) are coming off a 73-62 loss to Drake on Dec. 22. The team has had wins against Lipscomb, Colorado Christian, Texas Southern and Texas Sate and has suffered losses to Northern Colorado, Idaho State, Portland, UT Martin, Bryant and Denver. Air Force will face Navy on Dec. 30 before taking on Colgate on Jan. 2.

The team is led by senior Raimee Beck and sophomore Kelsey Berger. Beck has a team-high 13.3 points per game and a 6.3 rebound average, while Berger is second with an average of 11.1 points per game.

1,000-POINT CLUB
Senior Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.), who has started every game in her collegiate career, is now just 76 points short of reaching the 1,000 career-point mark. Ending the 2009-10 season as the Raiders' second leading scorer, she has already accumulated 86 points this season.

PAM'S WORKOUT PLAN

Head coach Pamela Bass has made a deal with her team that is bound to have her in the best shape of her life. For every charge her team takes during a game, she will do one push-up on the court immediately after the foul is called.
