Football Travels to Bucknell on Saturday

The Colgate Raiders (5-4, 2-2) look to secure their fourth-straight winning season in league play on Saturday, Nov. 13 when they travel to Bucknell (1-8, 1-2). Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.

THE SERIES
This will be the 59th meeting between Colgate and Bucknell, with the Raiders leading the all-time series 42-16. Colgate has won four of the last five meetings including a 29-14 win last season in Hamilton.

THE COACHES
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle, who has the most wins in school history, is in his 15th season at the helm of the Raiders. His overall record is 118-55, and is 10-4 against Bucknell.

Bucknell head coach Joe Susan is in his first season with the Bison and has compiled an overall mark of 1-8 and is facing Colgate for the first time.

BUCKNELL NOTEBOOK
The Bison (1-8, 1-2) are coming off a 33-21 loss to Fordham marking their fifth straight loss at home this season, and third straight Patriot League loss after defeating Georgetown 24-21 on Oct. 16.

Bucknell is led on offense by quarterback Brandon Wesley and running back Tyler Smith. Wesley has thrown for 1,460 yards and five touchdowns, while rushing for 210 yards and two scores. Smith is an all-purpose back that leads the team in rushing with 328 yards and three touchdowns and is second on the team in receiving with 29 catches for 204 yards. Smith also leads the team in kickoff returns with 22 for 676 yards and one touchdown.

On defense Bucknell is led by Travis Nissley and Tim Bolte. Nissley leads the team with 49 tackles, while Bolte is second with 47. Sean Rafferty leads the team with two interceptions, while Josh Eden leads with 3.5 sacks.

DIMASSA NAMED PL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior linebacker Chris DiMassa was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against Lafayette. DiMassa, who also earned National Linebacker of the Week honorable mention, recorded eight tackles and two interceptions in the 24-14 win over the Leopards. DiMassa is the first Raider to record two interceptions in one game since Wayne Moten did in 2007 against Lafayette.

EACHUS NAMED TO WALTER PAYTON AWARD WATCH LIST
Junior running back Nate Eachus has joined the race for the 2010 Walter Payton Award, sponsored by Fathead.com. The Payton Award is in its 24th season and is the Football Championship Subdivision's top individual honor.

Eachus leads the nation with 167.4 yards per game this year. Eachus has 1,507 yards and 16 touchdowns for the season. He has also caught 13 passes for 115 yards which ranks third on the team.

Eachus is the first Raider to rush for more than 1,500 yards in a season since Jordan Scott ran for 1,875 in 2007. His 1,507 yards this season ranks fifth all-time among the most yards in a single season.

CAREER RUSHING CHART
Tailback Nate Eachus, a two-time All-Patriot First Team selection, is climbing up the Colgate record books where he is fourth in rushing touchdowns (42) and fifth in rushing yards (3,358). He is just the fifth running back in Colgate history to amass more then 3,000 yards rushing.

ANOTHER WINNING SEASON FOR BIDDLE'S RAIDERS?
Colgate needs a win over Bucknell on Saturday to finish with a winning record in the Patriot League standings, and history says they will get it. The Raiders have finished with a winning League record in 13 of coach Dick Biddle's 14 previous seasons, and have never finished under .500 in the venerable head coach's tenure. Biddle has a 118-55 all-time record and a 68-20 mark against Patriot League opponents.

SULLIVAN BREAKS PATRIOT LEAGUE RUSHING RECORD
Senior quarterback Greg Sullivan recently broke the Patriot League record for most rushing yards gained by a quarterback in a career with 2,229. Sullivan is second on the team and Patriot League in rushing this season averaging 66.7 yards per game. Sullivan is also the all-time rushing quarterback in school history.

DIMASSA IS A TACKLING MACHINE
Senior linebacker Chris DiMassa is currently fourth in the Patriot League in tackles with a total of 79, which equals 8.8 per game. The last Raider to lead the league in tackling was Mike Gallihugh with 123 in 2007.

SACK KINGS
Senior defensive ends Zach Smith and Lamont Sonds currently sit first and fourth in the Patriot League in sacks. Smith is first with 8.5 total sacks, while Sonds is fourth with 4.5, respectively. The only Raider to lead the league in sacks was Pat Nolan with 6.5 in 2007.

600 AND COUNTING
The Colgate football team became just the 15th program in FCS history to reach 600 wins after dismantling Cornell 44-3. The Raiders are also the ninth winningest program in the FCS over the last decade. Since 2000, Colgate has posted a recorded 87-39 and won four Patriot League titles.

THE BIDDLE ERA
Colgate head coach Dick Biddle is in his 15th season with the Raiders. Biddle has an overall mark of 118-55. He has achieved the best winning percentage (.691) of any Colgate coach with seven or more years at the helm of the Raiders. Biddle is also the first Colgate coach to ever record nine straight seasons with seven or more victories. He has been named Patriot League Coach of the Year four times while guiding the Raiders to six Patriot League titles and six appearances in the FCS (formally I-AA) playoffs.

In 2003, Biddle was named the American Football Coaches Association Division I-AA National Coach of the Year after leading the Raiders to a 15-1 record, and to the national championship game of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

COLGATE VS. PATRIOT LEAGUE TEAMS UNDER BIDDLE
In the last 15 seasons, the Raiders are 68-20 against Patriot League teams under head coach Dick Biddle for a winning percentage of .772.
