HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/5/09) – The Colgate University women's ice hockey takes it's nine game unbeaten streak in ECAC Hockey to Princeton and Quinnipiac this weekend. The Raiders face-off with Princeton on Friday, Feb. 6 followed with Quinnipiac on Saturday, Feb. 7. The opening face-off for Friday's game is at 7 p.m. followed with Saturday's game at 4 p.m.
Colgate sports a 15-9-3 overall record, 9-4-3 in ECAC Hockey after a tie with Clarkson (1-1) and a win over St. Lawrence (3-1), last weekend to extend its unbeaten streak to a school record nine games. Leading the Raiders up front is senior forward
Sam Hunt (Calgary, Alta.) with a team-high 26 points. Hunt has 12 goals and 14 assists. Junior
Katie Stewart (Exeter, Ont.) has 22 points while senior
Elin Brown (Calgary, Alta.) has 19. Hunt and Stewart lead the team in goals with 12 while junior
Evan Minnick (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) has 11. Senior
Kiira Dosdall (Fairfield, Conn.) leads in assists with a school record for a defenseman 19. Dosdall headlines the defenders with 23 points off four goals and 19 assists while senior
Clancy Todd (Thorold, Ont.) has 13 and
Amanda Kirwan (Mississauga, Ont.) seven.
Colgate has rotated two goaltenders; sophomore
Lisa Plenderleith (Ajax, Ont.), and freshman
Kimberly Sass (East Amherst, N.Y.). Plenderleith is 4-5 with a 3.26 GAA and a .883 save percentage, while Sass is 10-3-3 with a 2.09 GAA with a .938 save percentage. Both goaltenders have recorded one shutout this season.
The Raiders are receiving votes in both the USCHO and USA Today hockey polls for the first time since November 13, 2007. Colgate is receiving its highest amount of votes in the USCHO with six, and the USA Today with five.
Princeton leads the all-time series over the Raiders, 14-3-2. Colgate earned its first victory during the 2006-07 season, when it swept the Tigers in the ECACHL Quarterfinals. The Raiders won the first contest this season ending a 16-game regular season drought.
Princeton is 13-9-1 overall and sports a 10-6 league mark. The Tigers split two games last weekend topping Yale (3-2) then dropping in OT to Brown (1-2). The Tigers are led by junior Melanie Wallace with 21 points while sophomore defender Sasha Sherry and freshman forward Paula Romanchuk both have 16 points. Senior Kristen Young has played all 23 games in net. She has a 13-9-1 record, with a 2.18 goals against average and a .918 save percentage.
Colgate leads the all-time series 12-1-2 against Quinnipiac. The Bobcats recorded their first win in the series in November with 3-2 stunner.
Quinnipiac sports a 3-21-4 record 2-10-4 in the ECAC. The Bobcats are led in scoring by Elyse Cole and Janine Duffy with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Quinnipiac uses two goaltenders; Nanna Holm-Glaas and Tia Wishart. Holm-Glaas is 1-13-1 on the season with a 3.63 GAA and an .881 save percentage. Wishart is 2-7-3 with a 2.50 GAA and a .919 save percentage.
