Four Score in Double Digits as Raiders Fall to Bryant

 
HAMILTON, N.Y. (12/1/09) -   Four players scored in double figures for Colgate but they were unable to gain the lead as they fell to visiting Bryant University, 82-74, at Cotterell Court on Tuesday evening.  The Raiders drop to 5-2 overall while the Bulldogs improve to 2-4 this season.
 
Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) led Colgate with 17 points, six rebounds and two steals followed by sophomore Tricia Oakes (Evergreen, Colo.) with 16 points and four assists. Classmate Candice Green (East Brunswick, N.J.) picked up 15 points including three three-pointers while rookie Jhazmine Lynch (San Diego, Calif.) added 12 points, four assists and two steals. Junior Krista Moser (Cedar Rapids, Ill.) led the squad in rebounding pulling down 13 boards.  
 
Bryant's Kelsey O'Keefe led all scorers with 21 points and 14 rebounds followed by teammate Siamone Bennett with 20 points and seven boards.  
 
The Bulldogs were able to gain an early eight point lead, 10-2, within the first four minutes of the first half. The Raiders inched their way back, earning their first lead of the game, 20-19, with 5:41 left in the half. Bryant however, was quick to regain the advantage closing the half with a four point lead, 34-30.
 
The two teams traded baskets throughout the opening minutes of the second half with the Raiders finally tying the game, 50-50, on a three from Kozlowski. A few minutes later Colgate would regain their lead, for the last time, 60-58, with a field goal from Kozlowski.  Bennett responded with a good shot from behind the arc to put the Bulldogs back on top and the Raiders were unable to gain the lead for the rest of the game.  
 
The back-and-forth match featured six ties and four lead changes, but Colgate was unable to hold a solid advantage.  
 
The Raiders will be back in action this Thursday, Dec. 3, when they take on regional rivals Cornell University at 7 p.m. in Ithaca, N.Y.
