Hootz Scores Career-First in Loss at Boston College

– The Colgate women's hockey team built a two goal lead in the second period, including freshman Jessica Hootz (Edmonton, Alta.) first career-goal but it wasn't enough as the Raiders fell 5-3 to Boston College Saturday at Kelly Rink.

Colgate (0-2-0) scored two goals in the second period the first from sophomore Krista Dermott (Milton, Ont.) the second by Hootz to take a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

The Raiders opened the scoring off a goal from senior Evan Minnick (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) while sophomore goaltender Kimberly Sass (East Amherst, N.Y.) made 14 saves to give Colgate 1-0 lead after the first period.

Boston College (1-1-2) lit the lamp four times in the third period including an empty-netter to finish the scoring 5-3.

The Eagles out-shot Colgate 34-29. Colgate finished 1-5 on the power-play, while Boston College went 1-3. Sass finished with a game-high 29 saves, while Corinne Boyles recorded 26 for the Eagles.

Colgate returns to action next weekend on the road against Providence College.
