LEWISBURG, PA. (1/10/09) – Teddy Perley (Harrison, N.Y.) was a double winner, but it wasn't enough as Bucknell downed Colgate 188-96 in men's swimming action, Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.
The freshman captured one of three individual events for the Raiders on the day. Perley swam a seasonal best 59.76 en route to winning the 100 breast. He later teamed with
Pat White (New Canaan, Conn.), Costas Hadjipateras (New Canaan, Conn.) and
Tyler Coolman (Fort Collins, Colo.) to win the final event, the 400 free relay with a time of 3:15.95.
Colgate's other victories came in the 400 IM as
Trevor Healy (New Canaan, Conn.) swam a winning 4:13.58, while
Joe McGovern (Stowe, Vt.) posted 239.40 points to win three-meter diving.
The 200 medley relay squad of
Tucker Gniewek (Mountain Lakes, N.J.), Henry Bottger (Weston, Conn.) and
George Bennitt (West Chester, Pa.) teamed with Perley to finish second in the opening event, the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:37.80. Hadjipateras swam the eighth fastest time in the program's history in the 200 yard free. The freshman ripped off a 1:44.09, which was good enough for a second-place effort.
The Raiders, now 1-4 overall, return to action next Saturday at Cornell.
