Colgate Hockey Falls to St. Lawrence

Brian Day picked up his eighth goal of the year
HAMILTON, N.Y. (12/5/08) – Casey Parenteau scored twice in the second period as visiting St. Lawrence downed Colgate 5-2 in ECAC men's hockey action, Friday evening at Starr Rink.
 
The Saints, now 6-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in league action) broke open a 1-1 tie with four scores in the second period.  Colgate fell to 4-7-2 overall, 1-4-2 in league action.
 
With St. Lawrence leading 3-1, Parenteau netted two goals, his third and fourth of the year, within a span of 3:38 to send the Saints into intermission with a 5-1 advantage.  Mark Armstrong gave St. Lawrence the lead for good at 2-1 with an even strength goal from Jacob Drewiske and Kevin DeVergillo.
 
Colgate pulled within three goals as David McIntyre (Pefferlaw, Ont.) netted his fourth of the year, on the power play, from Tom Riley (Ottawa, Ont.) and Jason Fredricks (Eagle River Wis.) with 3:07 left in the final period.
 
St. Lawrence grabbed the early lead at 1-0 as Matt Generous beat starting goalie Alex Evin (Castlegar, B.C.) at 5:42 of the opening period.  The Raiders got the equalizer as Brian Day (Danvers, Mass.), who returned to the lineup after missing the previous three games, deflected a blast from Nick St. Pierre (St. Etienne, Que.) from out top into the net.  It was St. Pierre's 50th point in his collegiate career.  Corbin McPherson (Folsom, Calif.) also was credited with an assist.
 
St. Lawrence outshot Colgate 37-17 in the victory.  Saint goalie Alex Petizian made 14 saves en route to evening his record to 5-5-1 overall.  Evin turned aside a career-high 32 saves, including 17 in the second period, in the loss for Colgate.
 
The Raiders return to action Saturday afternoon as it hosts Clarkson.  Gametime is set for a 3p.m. start at Starr Rink.
