Colgate Men's Tennis Falls 7-0 at Lehigh

Marshall Wheeler gave his opponents fits at the Raiders fell 7-0 to the Mountain Hawks.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (4/9/06) - The Lehigh University men's tennis team swept Colgate, 7-0 on Sunday at the Lewis Tennis Center in Patriot League action.

The Mountain Hawks began the match taking the doubles point, winning all three matches, and went on to win each singles match.

Marshall Wheeler (Darien, Conn.) and Mickey Gallagher (Darien, Conn.) gave Randall Smalley and John Nespoli a run at No. 1 doubles but the pair from Lehigh slipped by 8-7. 

Wheeler also pushed is opponent Brad Nelson at No. 4 singles.  Nelson edged Wheeler 7-6 in the first set before winning out with a 6-1 score in the second set.

The Colgate men's tennis team will conclude the regular-season schedule next weekend when they play three straight Patriot League matches.  The Raiders will begin in a make-up match with Lafayette on Friday, April 14 at 3:30 p.m.
