HANOVER, N.H. (2/4/06) - The Colgate University men’s tennis lost its first match of the 2006 season, falling 7-0 to Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H., on Saturday, Feb. 4.
In No. 1 singles Chris Innes (Southport, Conn.) fell 6-4, 6-1 to Dave Waslen. Mickey Gallagher (Darien, Conn.) lost 6-3, 6-3 to Mark Brodie in No. 2 singles, and Martin MacIntyre (Arlington, Va.) lost 6-4, 6-2 to Jeff Schectman in No. 3 singles. In No. 4 singles Marshall Wheeler (Darien, Conn.) fell 6-2, 6-1 to Ari Gayer. Tyler Deck (Newport Beach, Calif.) went three sets in No. 5 singles against Steve McGaughey, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 10-5; while Matthew McCormick (St. Paul, Minn.) lost two sets of 6-1 to Rashaad Elder-Bush.
MacIntyre/Innes lost 8-3 to Waslen/McGaughey in No. 1 doubles. Wheeler and Gallagher paired up in No. 2 doubles but fell to Schechtman/Brodie 8-6. In No. 3 doubles Deck/McCormick lost 9-7 to Elder-Bush/Gayer.
The men’s tennis team will be back in action on next weekend when they play Swarthmore on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 12 p.m., and St. Joseph’s University on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be in Swartmore, Pa.
