Willie Moore was named assistant cross country and track & field coach in August 2023.
He heads to Hamilton after serving as an assistant cross country and track & field coach at the University
of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS), since 2019.
At UCCS, the men’s cross-country team finished 5th at the 2021 DII Cross Country Championship, the
highest finish in program history.
At The 2022 DII Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, Afewerki Zeru won the 5000-meter
and finished third in the 10000-meter. Afewerki set school records in the 3000-meter (8:00), 5000-meter
(13:44), and 10000-meter (28:56). Evan Graff set school records in the 1500-meter (3:45) and mile
(4:00).
Moore also spent time as an assistant coach at Discovery Canyon High School and Monument Academy
Charter School. While mainly working with middle/distance runners, in a semester as the sprint coach,
Lauren McDowell finished 2nd in the 200-meter dash at the 2023 State Track and Field Championships
in a time of 25.04.
Moore graduated from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs with a bachelor's degree in
economics in 2019. He was a captain of the cross country/track and field team, set a school record in the
3000-meter run, earned all-conference honors twice, and USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
